WEB DESIGNER V/S WEB DEVELOPER

 It is quite normal for a beginner, who is new to development to not able to differentiate between WEB DEVELOPMENT and WEB DESIGNING. These two terms seem so similar that we often get confused. But, wait...Both are entirely different fields requiring different skill sets.

Despite being separated, they are interrelated terms. A web developer will always need a design to make it functional using coding skills. In some cases, Both these works can be performed by a single person, again both fields require different knowledge.

WEB DESIGNER

A web designer mainly focuses on the visual aspects of a website, here visual aspect means things which user can see and able to interact with directly. Web designer interacts with the client and try to map the demands of the client as per their requirement. and later, after having a clear idea of the client's demand they design a visual layout targeting the audience of the client, using different software like Adobe, photoshop etc. Sometimes a web designer also uses HTML(HyperText Markup Language) and CSS(Cascading Style Sheets).

These are further categorised into:

1.UX (User Experience Designer)

User Experience Designer mainly focuses on how the customer is using the products or services. Whether they are happy with the services or they are facing any difficulties in using them. We can say that this focuses on the product and customer relation.  

2.UI (User Interface Designer)

User Interface Designer mainly focuses on the visual aspects, means Whether the designs used can explain the service well or not.

Let's take an example to understand the terms UI and UX more clearly,

Suppose a web designer gets a contract to build a fitness website. In this scenario, the UX designer will play a major role. Various researches based on customer demand will be performed, features and functionality will be added based on the competitive analysis, how and why the services or product is better than the others. These all will be covered under the UX designer. Once the flow of the web page is decided, then comes the role of UI designer. Branding, colouring shape and size of the web page is decided by the UI designer.

WEB DEVELOPER

A web developer is someone who builds the layout made by web designer functional using the programming skills. And also, the web developer is the one who maintains the website.

Web Developers are further categorized as:

1.Front-end Developer

Front-end developer converts the web pages designed by the web designer into functional websites using coding skills. The skill sets of a front-end developer are mainly HTML, CSS and JavaScript etc. They are responsible for everything that a user can see or interact with. We can say that they deal with the client-side.

2.Backend Developer

A backend developer is someone whose work is not directly visible to the user. Backend developer codes help to manage the server and databases of the website. The skill sets of a backend-end developer are PHP, Python, Java, Javascript, SQL etc. They work behind the scenes and deal with the server-side.

3.Full-Stack Developer

A developer with the skills of both frontend as well as the backend is known as a full-stack developer. They are skilled enough to handle the entire process.
